Lycée Français de Chicago is a private, not-for-profit, coeducational day school serving 440 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Their mission is to prepare young people to be responsible global citizens by providing a dual-language education focused on excellence through the French National Curriculum and complemented by a strong English Language Arts and American Studies program.

Their multicultural, dual-language curriculum brings together the best of the French and American education systems. It not only enhances the students' interpersonal, communication, and academic skills, it also helps them distinguish themselves in an increasingly competitive world. The Lycée belongs to the renowned worldwide French school system, which ensures the consistency and cohesiveness of its curriculum.

Created in 1995 by a group of French and American parents, with substantial backing from French businesses and the support of the Consul General of France in Chicago, the Lycée fills the needs of the French-speaking community in the Midwest, while helping to expand the understanding of French language and culture. It provides a compelling educational experience for the broader Chicago Community and contributes to the widespread recognition of Chicago as an international, multicultural city.

The annual Soirée is the school's premier fundraising event, sponsored by national and international businesses. Each spring, this gala event provides a wonderful opportunity for the entire parent community to come together in support of the school. The Soirée committee, comprised of tireless and dedicated volunteers, spends months planning every detail of the event—from choosing the location and menu to securing auction and raffle prizes, working with teachers and students to create one-of-a-kind art projects for guests to bid on, and managing the evening's activities and entertainment. While the theme of the Soirée changes from year to year, the event always includes dining, dancing, champagne and a great deal of fun. All proceeds benefit the school's general operating budget, as well as occasional specific programs and projects.

2008's edition was dubbed the "Swank Supper Club Soirée" and was hosted at the Ravenswood Billboard Factory - Chicago's premier urban banquet event space - by soirée committee head Gina Marino-Kalish, wife of Executive Chef Andy Kalish whose delicious Blue Rooster Catering Company provided both exceptional food and service for the incredible gala event.

The Billboard Factory, which houses one of America's premier collections of vintage European and American sports cars along with an impressive collection of historically significant early American prestige vehicles, was specially decorated and mood lit for the gala by Chicago's Event Creative, themed in the fabulous supper club stylings of 1950’s America combined with the romantic vibe of late night Parisian bistros. A crooning jazz quartet greeted guests as they mingled throughout the early evening enjoying hors d' oeuvres and champagne.

Donations were being accepted through the "Learning Tree" where attendees could purchase leaves in denominations ranging from $25.00 - $500.00 and affix them to the tree to aid in the further educational enrichment opportunities for the children of Lycée Français de Chicago. A silent auction featured artwork created by the children while a mid-meal auction offered fabulous prizes benefitting the coeducational day school students.

After an incredible dinner, donors danced the night away until the early hours of Sunday morning to the beats of a club D.J.

Jason Kaczorowski Photography celebrated its gala Grand Opening Friday, March 28th with a packed studio from 7pm until well after 11pm.

Likely over 100 attendees streamed through the doors of the former Bull Dog Lock Company building located in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborood at 4636 N. Ravenswood. Studio 106 was abuzz with former, current and potential clients perusing works on the walls and checking out our new sample products such as our fabulous BagsbyBabycakes handbags/purses and amazing new frames by Tana LeMay's Wild Sorbet.

Harpist Jennifer Keller brought her elegant harp to help set the ambiance as Andy Schneider from Digital Take captured the evening on video for a future promotional montage. Unfortunately I was being pulled in many directions throughout the evening and was only able to pick up my camera for a minute to grab these few fleeting moments.

Thanks to everyone who attended for making it such an incredible evening!

Thanks also to my friend and fellow photographer Marnie Bigelow
for helping photograph moments I missed (see photos below).

Artist Ray Noland recently honored my work by adding one of the photos I captured at his opening night show in Chicago from the GoTellMama (I'm for Obama) movement to their website - www.gotellmama.org/.

(Don't tell mama that I accidentally watermarked the year incorrectly)

Fresh off the heels of its sold-out show in Chicago and recently delivering a set of posters to The Library of Congress and The Smithsonian, GoTellMama! embarks on the first in a series of traveling 3-Day exhibitions across the country. Planning to conduct art shows leading up to the democratic convention in the fall, the show "wants to help shine light on Barack Obama's message with the Power of Art to move and motivate". The coming Pennsylvania primary election is the next battleground in the democratic race and looks to be influential.

GoTellMama! is an artists run and operated independent political art campaign in support of Barack Obama. It is focused on communicating with voters in an array of grassroots methods. The traveling show includes screen-printed & offset posters, stencil art on canvas & wood, and animated videos.

The opening and show will be located at 16 E. Springer Street in a beautiful newly renovated 1000 sqft. loft space just off Germantown Ave. in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia.

Opening Reception: Friday, April 11th (6pm - 9pm)
Show continues April 12th - 13th (12pm - 6pm)

It's just a few days before I host a soft opening / open house for my photography friends at the new space and things are 90% complete.

It's been a whirlwind adventure whipping this place into shape in only the short time I've had. Had I been provided another couple weeks, I'm certain I could've poured over every last detail with greater intensity but this short schedule has prompted me to make many decisions based on my gut and judging by the near end result, I'm very pleased with what's transpired so far.

I'm taking off the day today to enjoy brunch with my family and returning bright and early to put the final finishing touches on the walls. I already have consultations scheduled this week and then I dive head first into my busy wedding season with events scheduled every weekend throughout practically the entire summer season. I can't wait to pick up my cameras and start documenting anything other than my studio space.

Happy Easter everyone!

Another long, hard day at the office. It's 12:30pm almost and I have to be back down for a consultation in less than 12 hours so I'm going to try and keep this update short and sweet.

I made a lot of progress today thanks again in large part to my wonderful network of friends who continue to come down and help bust their butts. Thanks everyone for all your help! Through their assistance I was able to finally get the shelving and plasma screen up and mount some new lights over my island.

Things are looking great and I'm excited at the prospect of hanging work soon!

I'm calling it Day 3 of construction but this journey has been a long time in the making and though I'm not at the studio handling the millions of little details on a daiy basis, I've been doing a lot of behind the scenes planning like working with caterers, musicians, florists, videographers and other vendors to make the Grand Opening (Friday, March 28th 7-9pm) spectacular for everyone who plans on attending!

Thankfully I found a little time to make it down today and catch up on some work. I fortunately got both countertops shimmed and attached, all cabinets anchored to each other and the carpet cut to size. Just a few more important things left to do such as attaching the wall mounted monitor, positioning the projector and screen, running some cables/cords, orchestrating everything so that it all functions seemlessly and finally hanging my work on the walls.

I'll be back down the remainder of this week to continue putting the finishing touches in place. Almost only 2 weeks away from the grand opening - Wow! I can't wait for my postcards to arrive so I can start addressing them, mailing and handing them out.

I woke up early and picked up the U-Haul truck, countertops, flatfiles and remaining items and drove downtown in mild snow flurries.

Thanks to my incredible crew of friends, all the cabinets managed to get assembled today in under 6 hours and much of the gear started to find its new home.

The decision to construct walls still looms. I didn't pick up the construction materials today as I discovered once everything was assembled and in place that I might prefer the open loft-style look as opposed to the confining yet private department divisons. As the week wears on I'll make an ulimate determination but in the meanwhile I've still have so much work to do.

I did it! The keys are finally in hand, the name's on the mailbox and I began moving equipment in today.

Despite some snow flurries and bitter temps, I managed to get the first wave of moving taken care of and am going to rent a U-Haul truck tomorrow to grab the remaining countertops and flatfiles plus lumber and sheetrock that'll be used to construct some boundaries within the space, subdividing separate portrait, consultation and production facilities.

I have hopes of starting construction on Monday as tomorrow I plan on continuing to deliver items and start assembling a myriad of Ikea cabinetry needed to support the massive 50" X 137" island that'll host large parties able to preview their proofs on an enormous home theater projection screen.

Stay tuned to this blog throughout the month of March as renovation continues leading up to my Grand Opening, Friday, March 28th. I'm excited to announce the grand opening gala will feature food, drinks, live music and other area vendors showcasing their talents. There will be prizes awarded and everyone who attends and signs our guestbook will receive a complimentary portrait session or, for my existing wedding clientele, I'm offering an opportunity to meet my new assistants and receive 6 complimentary hours of second shooter coverage at your wedding when you purchase an initial 6. These offers are limited time grand opening night specials and the only way to participate is to be present. If you want to be added to the guest list, please send an email to RSVP@jasonkaczorowski.com including your name, address and the total number of people in your party interested in attending. And don’t forget to keep checking back here all month and watch the progress of my exciting new studio!
