Behind-the-Lens w/ Pollock Productions*

Jim Pollock just wrapped filming and is currently in post-production on a new film created for the internet depicting a day in the life of a linoleum block carving poster artist. Jim’s poster that he laboriously creates throughout the 4 hour long filmed flick is fittingly an homage to Andy Warhol, the avant-garde artist and filmmaker whose movies, such as 1963’s “Sleep” (solely starring John Giorno), served as inspiration.

According to Gerard Malanga, Warhol had mentioned to him an idea for making a film of Brigitte Bardot sleeping for eight hours before Warhol actually owned a movie camera. Although planned as an eight-hour-long movie, Sleep was actually made by looping some of the footage. In Popism, Warhol admits that "I hadn't actually shot that much". This was partially due to the limitations of his Bolex movie camera which could only shoot 4-minute lengths of film. According to Gerard Malanga, "Sleep runs approximately six-and-a-half hours of equivalent shooting time. Andy duplicated an additional ninety minutes from an equal ninety-minute section of the film to stretch it out to eight hours to approximate the scientifically accepted length of time for normal sleep." The premiere of Sleep took place on January 17, 1964 at the Grammercy Arts Theater - a benefit screening for the Film-Makers' Cooperative. According to the New York Post, the screening was attended by only nine people - two of whom left during the first hour.

Hopefully Pollock’s interpretation will be better received on its opening day online.

United So Together Our Reach Multiplies is a non-profit organization aimed at raising funds to help needy children and young adults improve their lives by providing access to various music and art educational programs.

Jennifer Hartswick (The Trey Anastasio Band) enters the venue for soundcheck.

Master of ceremonies & Chicago's own Barry Brown welcomes Chicago's Off The Streets Club on stage and presents them with a check raised by Ustorm for $3,000.00. Founded in 1898, OTSC is Chicago's oldest boys and girls club that serves more than 3,000 kids, keeping them "off the streets" and away from gangs, drugs & violence through the Performing Arts and hands-on projects.

The kids from the Off The Streets Club lead the audience in singing Happy Birthday to USTORM in celebration of their first year anniversary as a birthday cake bearing one candle is brought out on stage.

Brendan Bayliss (Umphrey's McGee) kicks off the evening's festivities on acoustic guitar with Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band) accompanying on mandolin.

1st set's setlist rests upon the soundboard (above). The evening's nearly five hour two sets featured:
