Artist Jim Pollock's first open gallery show kicked off a 10 day art extravaganza that led Pollock from Chicago's Pitchfork Music Festival to Minnesota's 5th annual 10,000 Lakes Music & Arts Festival where he printed on-site at the festival daily employing his antique bookbinding press.
Jim Pollock opened the doors to the PollockPrints Studio to host a free art show to start off the Flatstock 13 weekend in Chicago. I was honored to be asked to hang the work and curate the show.
Pressed for time, Pollock didn't create a Flatstock 13 poster edition and instead opted to print his first pass of Red of the on-site 10,000 Lakes posters in person at the event.
The event featured limited edition concert posters for Phish, Umphrey's McGee, the Disco Biscuits, Vida Blue, the 10,000 Lakes Music Festival, the Wakarusa Music Festival and more! Over 100 never-before-seen original political cartoons, pencil sketches, marker renderings and hand carved linoleum blocks were on display along with the antique Bookbinding Press & Washington Press.
The show was a huge success and very well attended with some collectors even flying in from Denver, Connecticut and Florida just for the afternoon, just to attend the event.
